Abstract

A new class of special functions for electromagnetics is presented. Formed by the incomplete spherical Bessel functions, this class conveniently allows solving electromagnetic problems regarding transient radiation phenomena in spherical structures. The definition of these functions is here introduced, and the relevant analytical properties are derived. The definition is such that the interrelationships between the incomplete functions parallel, as far as is feasible, those for canonical spherical Bessel functions.
