Abstract

We report on extensive inelastic neutron scattering on paramagnetic chromium to determine the spin dynamics above T N=311 K. The low energy fluctuations are found to be truly incommensurate and can be well described by the phenomenological Sato–Maki response function. The energy scale of the response increases roughly linearly with temperature up to at least T=400 K.
