Abstract

The angular distributions of the inclusive (${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$,p) and (${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$,pp) cross sections have been measured for $^{6}\mathrm{Li}$, $^{7}\mathrm{Li}$, and C at ${T}_{\ensuremath{\pi}}$=70, 130, and 165 MeV. The results are compared with the predictions of the intranuclear cascade model in which pion absorption is involved only through the \ensuremath{\Delta}N-NN dynamics. Discrepancy between the intranuclear cascade and experimental results for the (${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$,pp) reaction is larger than that for the (${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$,p) reaction. Effective numbers of quasideuteron are deduced from both single-arm and coincidence data, and compared with results of the two-nucleon photoabsorption reaction.
