Abstract
Objective To explore the clinical manifestations and treatment options of incision reaction after Nuss procedure. Methods A total of 21 patients with incision reaction after Nuss procedure were treated from June 2010 to August 2014. There were 19 boys and 2 girls with an average age of 102 (43-209) months. The average occurrence time of postoperative incision reaction was 9(3-24) months. There were trauma or vigorous activities (n=15), metal allergy (n=3) and knotting reaction (n=3). And the affected sides were bilateral (n=2) and unilateral (n=16). Results Healing was achieved with incisional dressing change (n=5) and incision debridement (n=16). No bar was removed for serious infection. Excellent incision was maintained during an average follow-up period of 21(8-54) months. Conclusions The causes of incision reaction after Nuss procedure are trauma or vigorous activities, metal allergy and knotting reaction. And early incisional dressing change and timely incision debridement can effectively manage incision reaction. Key words: Funnel chest; Nuss procedure; Incisiong reaction
