Abstract

Background: Multicystic ovaries and ovarian hyperstimulation have been reported in patients with longstanding hypothyroidism. Associated findings in previously described syndromes in the adolescent (Van Wyk Grumbach) include delayed bone age and isosexual precocity. There are no previous reports in the adolescent population of hypothyroidism leading to ovarian hyperstimulation with an associated acute bowel obstruction or of incipient ovarian failure as this case highlights.
