Abstract
An adaptive and sliding-mode observer (SMO) is designed for the incipient fault of guided missiles with unknown disturbance, which can not only estimate the incipient fault, but also have strong robustness against unknown disturbance. At first, the actuator fault and unknown disturbance are transformed into two subsystems by coordinate transformation; and then, an adaptive observer is designed to estimate the incipient fault for the subsystem which is free from disturbance, a sliding mode observer is designed to eliminate the effect of unknown disturbance for the subsystem which is affected by disturbance and incipient faults. At last, simulation results verify the efficiency of the proposed adaptive and sliding-mode observer based on incipient fault detection algorithm.
