Abstract

The problems of handling irradiated reactor graphite are discussed and salvaging variants are compared. Incineration is chosen as a possible variant. The amounts of 14C entering the environment by natural pathways during the operation of NPP and as a result of incineration of irradiated reactor graphite are compared. It is shown that the incineration of graphite with 14C entering the atmosphere is possible within the framework of the maximum admissible emissions.
