Abstract
The incidence of zika virus has increasingly generated studies on the origin and consequences of this virus in collective health. Data on the incidence of the zika virus in the municipality of Januaria-MG, from 2016 to 2017 were analyzed. The study presents data on the age range of the affected population, case evolution, cure and death, number of cases of zika virus in urban and rural areas. Data on zika virus infections in pregnant women, confirmed cases and discarded were also discussed. Data from the Municipal Health Surveillance and the Ministry of Health were compared. The incidence of zika virus did not differ from the national trend. The results and discussions presented can serve as an alert to the risks that this infection poses to the health of the population.
