Abstract

Adrenal incidentaloma (AI) is defined as a lesion in the adrenal glands detected by imaging tests performed for reasons other than suspected adrenal disease. In addition, the latest guidelines establish a threshold of ≥1cm for consideration and study. The incidence of AI has increased considerably in recent years as a result of increased access to imaging tests. Its estimated prevalence is 0.5%-4.2% in radiological studies, which makes them a frequent cause for consultation. This update summarizes the latest recommendations for the initial approach and follow-up of patients with AI.
