Abstract
A 54-year-old woman with newly diagnosed infiltrating ductal carcinoma of the right breast underwent lymphoscintigraphy for preoperative sentinel lymph node detection. After intraparenchymal injection of technetium-99m sulfur colloid into the right breast, images revealed focal uptake in the lower pole of the left thyroid lobe. An iodine-123 thyroid scan demonstrated a large hyperfunctioning nodule at the lower pole of the left thyroid lobe with suppression of the remaining gland, consistent with a toxic autonomous thyroid nodule.
