Abstract

Introduction: A number of techniques have been described for vein resection and reconstruction during pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD). The optimal method remains undefined, yet the advent of minimally invasive techniques for PD has witnessed an increase in tangential vein resection (side-bite) and primary longitudinal venography. Our aim is to explore the outcomes of tangential vein resections during open and minimally-invasive PD and their effect on venous thrombosis.
