Abstract

Previous literature has demonstrated that a single event of hypoxemia in a head-injured patient substantially increases morbidity. During intubation in the emergency department (ED), patients with head injuries are at great risk of oxygen desaturation. The purpose of this study is to determine the incidence of hypoxemia during rapid sequence intubation (RSI) of head-injured patients in the ED.
