Abstract

Aim and methods: More than 20% of Japanese patients was reported to have asymptomatic postoperative deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Considering the aggressiveness of surgery, hepato-biliary pancreatic (HBP) patients may have higher incidence of DVT. To evaluate the risk, a consecutive 196 patients were examined by doppler ultrasonography before and after major HBP surgery since November 2015 until July 2019. All the patients received intermittent pneumatic compression of the lower thigh but did not receive prophylactic anticoagulant.
