Abstract

To the Editor: Bullous pemphigoid (BP) is a blistering disease caused by autoantibodies to BP antigens 230 and 180. Incidence in the United States has been reported as 2.4 per 100,0001; incidences in the European literature range from 1.3 to 7.6 per 100,000.2,3 The primary outcome of the current study was to determine incidence of BP, stratified by age, in the United States dialysis population and compare the incidence to the general population. A secondary outcome was to determine if BP was a risk factor for mortality.
