Summary
Powerlifting consists of three different exercises, the squat, bench press and deadlift. The athlete has three attempts to reach his maximum weight for one repetition. It evolved in the 1950s in the USA from classic weightlifting with the first official championship in 1965 (Kraemer et al, 2017)(Unitt, 2018).
