Abstract

Vaginal pessaries (VPs) are mechanical devices used as a viable conservative treatment for pelvic organ prolapse to avoid or postpone surgery [1–3]. When inserted into the vagina, they provide physical support to the vaginal wall, reducing the prolapse and relieving the pressure on the bladder and bowel [3]. Although the VP remains in situ, continual follow-up is required to avoid complications. The device must be removed and a thorough vaginal examination performed to ensure the integrity of the vaginal tissue and correct VP position [4,5].
