Abstract

Excited states of the odd-proton nuclide 105Ag have been investigated in the 103Rh(α,2n) and 105Pd(d, 2n) reactions using in-beam spectroscopic methods. The level scheme, spin and parity assignments are based on results obtained from measurements of singles γ-ray spectra, excitation functions, γγ coincidences, γ-ray angular distributions and the linear polarization of γ-rays. For the isomeric state at 1733.7 keV the half-life T 1 2 = 6.0(2) ns and the g-factor g = + 0.508(25) were determined. These data and similar data from 104, 105pd and 104,107Ag are interpreted by means of the cranked shell model. Evidence is found for a configuration-dependent triaxiality that reflects the response of the soft nuclear shape to the forces exerted by the quasiparticles.
