Abstract

Background The elderly are largely affected by one or more chronic diseases; they often receive medications, thus being widely exposed to the possibility of adverse drug reactions. Adverse drug reactions could be curtailed by lowering inappropriate prescription; the international community uses the Beers Criteria to identify those potentially harmful drugs, whose prescription should therefore be avoided.
