Abstract

We are concerned that venous blood lead screening in children is being applied inappropriately. Molina Medical Centers is a managed care organization that provides primary care and preventive services to Medicaid beneficiaries in California. The California Department of Health Services, through the Child Health and Disability Prevention Program, mandated venous blood lead testing in all Medicaid beneficiaries between 1 and 6 years of age who had not previously been tested.
