Abstract

Rationale: Acetylcarnitine plays a pivotal role in the regulation of mitochondrial and cellular lipid trafficking. The aim of the present study was to investigate the postprandial response to an oral fat load in terms of changes in skeletal muscle acetylcarnitine and intramyocellular lipid content (IMCL) in subjects with obesity through proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-MRS), in association with changes in postprandial lipid metabolism.
