In vivo and in vitro expression of a Streptococcus lactis tagatose 1,6-bisphosphate aldolase gene in Escherichia coli

Abstract

A 2.1 kb EcoRI-AvaI DNA fragment from the Streptococcus lactis lactose plasmid pDI-1 expressed tagatose 1,6-bisphosphate aldolase activity in Escherichia coli K12. A single polypeptide of Mr 37500 was generated in an E. coli in vitro transcription-translation system. The gene was expressed from its own promoter.
