Abstract

In vitro dissipation of S-metolachlor (87.2 EC) is reported in sandy, sandy loam, medium black calcareous and heavy black soils at 0.4 – 0.8 μg g−1 (T1) and 0.8 -1.2 μg g−1 (T2) levels of fortification. S-metolachlor showed biphasic mode of dissipation in the four types of soil with half-life ranging from 1.0 to 17.7 d and 4.6 – 43.0 d for phase-I and phase-II, respectively. The rate of dissipation was found slightly faster in sandy and sandy loam soils compared to medium black calcarious and heavy black soils (sandy> sandy loam >medium black calcareous> heavy black).
