Abstract

SummaryRefrigeration of angiotensin II-I131in vitro with human sera from normotensive, untreated primary benign hypertensive and secondary renal hypertensive subjects demonstrated that greater quantities of angiotensin II-I131 were degraded by the untreated primary benign hypertensive patients than by the normotensive or secondary renal hypertensive patients. Evidence for presence of a serum factor (or factors) enhancing angiotensin II-I131 degradation and for a heat labile inhibitor has been advanced. The greater in vitro degradation of angiotensin II-I131 by untreated primary benign hypertensive patients than by normotensive subjects contrasts with the in vivo turnover rates.
