Abstract

The present study reveals the development of the relationship between soil organic compounds Cu. A glycoprotein, glomalin related soil protein (GRSP), produced in copious amounts on hyphae of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) sequesters toxic elements. GRSP was extracted from laboratory cultures of AMF and soils as well. It was observed that glomalin from hyphae of an isolate of Acaulospora spinosa sequestered up to 35 mg Cu/g in vitro. Thus it can be concluded that Glomalin should be considered for biostabilization leading to remediation of polluted soils.
