Abstract

RATIONALE: In vitro IgE binding to taxonomically diverse food legumes is relatively common for peanut allergic subjects. IgE binding to cross-reactive carbohydrate determinants (CCD) of some asparagine-linked glycans is common for some individuals, often without corresponding allergy. This study compared activation of passively sensitized stripped human basophils and a rat basophil leukemia cell line (RBL 703/21) transfected with the human FcεRI alpha chain to measure effective cross-linking.
