Abstract

The latest advancements in AI research are being applied to a variety of application areas, from entertainment to disaster relief. This News feature explores how gamblers began using AI-based bots specially designed to play poker. Others use AI-enabled analysis tools that can help identify weak players or players using weak strategies. In other research, a Michigan State University team has developed AI algorithms for better matching forensically derived police sketches to criminals' mug shots, and a Massachusetts Institute of Technology and University of Southern California project has developed a set of AI learning algorithms that improve the capabilities of robotic sensors that could help in responses to disasters.
