Abstract

In this study, a Ti-Ni-Cu-Al-V component was produced using wire + arc additive manufacturing (WAAM), which have involved three solid wires, i.e. Ti6Al4V, ER-Ni and ER-Cu wires. This paper presents, the microstructure and mechanical properties of the wire + arc additive manufactured Ti-Ni-Cu-Al-V component. The result shown that the deposition layer was mainly composed of Ti(Ni, Cu) and Ti2(Ni, Cu). The average hardness was 520 HV0.2. The average compressive strength was 1761 MPa, and the average strain was 7.7%. The component experienced brittle fracture. The cyclic loading–unloading compression results revealed that the irrecoverable strain and the recoverable strain were around 1.2% and 5.3%, respectively.
