Abstract
Eu-doped ZnO particle/organic hybrid was synthesized in situ from zinc acrylate (ZA) and europium acetate (EA) using methylhydrazine. Nanocrystalline Eu-doped ZnO particles were formed in the organic matrix by hydrolysis and polymerization of ZA–EA at 65°C. The crystallinity of Eu-doped ZnO particles in the hybrid was dependent upon the synthesis conditions. TEM and EDX analysis revealed that crystalline ZnO nanoparticles doped with Eu were dispersed in the organic matrix. The hybrid film sandwiched between fused silica plates was highly transparent. Eu-doped ZnO particle/organic hybrid revealed photoluminescence peaks attributed to the transition of Eu3+ ions.
