Abstract

In this study, mesoporous TiO2 films were in-situ-synthesized from tetrabutyl titanate solution containing poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) by spin coating. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) shows that the mesopores are between 5 and 7 nm and X-ray diffraction (XRD) confirms that the films are composed of anatase-phase TiO2. The films were applied as photoanodes in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) using a polymer electrolyte and were able to yield high photocurrents. The overall conversion efficiency (η) reaches 6.38% in a 6.5-µm-thick film.
