Abstract

Bi2S3 quantum dot (QD) modified mesoscopic TiO2 films were prepared by in situ solution chemical reaction deposition, using ethylene glycol monomethylether and ethanol as solvent of cationic precursor solution and anionic precursor solution respectively. Ultraviolet–visible–near infrared absorption spectra reveal that the Bi2S3 QDs extends the range of the photo response of the TiO2 films to the visible region. A maximum conversion effciency of 0·615%, with short circuit current density of 2·940 mA cm− 2 and open circuit voltage of 505 mV, was obtained after five deposition cycles under illumination at 1000 W m− 2. These results indicate that the Bi2S3 has a potential application in the field of QD sensitised solar cell.
