Abstract
Time-resolved high resolution synchrotron X-ray diffraction has been used to conduct in situ studies of the temporal evolution of α → γ and γ → α transformations. Moreover, high temperature laser scanning confocal microscopy with an infrared imaging furnace has been used to directly observe the morphological development of γ → α transformations. It makes possible that phase transformation can be identified in real time during heating and continuously cooling process. Phase transformation process of Fe–0.15C binary alloy was analyzed as a combination of these two experimental facilities.
