Abstract

In cellular communications certain frequency bands are licensed to specific applications guaranteeing predictability and reliability of service quality. Undesirable interference from these bands have to be removed by high-quality passive filters. This paper introduces a novel measurement method to determine the frequency response of a cellular system related to these passive filters. The method is based on in situ BER measurements and does not require access to the components of the transceiver hardware or knowledge about components and implementation. It is nondestructive and can be applied as in situ measurement of any wireless modem during normal operation. The results are successfully verified against direct S -parameter measurements of the SMT components.
