Abstract

Four new MOF/layered zinc hydroxide composites suitable for photocatalytic decomposition of organic dyes were prepared via an in situ growth on layered zinc hydroxide according to the solvothermal procedure and characterized by SEM, XRD, IR spectroscopy, and N2-adsorption/desorption. All the selected pollutant dyes (methyl orange, congo red, brilliant green, sunset yellow, and amaranth) underwent a very efficient photodegradation by MOF/LZH-6 composite upon the UV irradiation (λ = 365 nm) via their oxidation by OH radicals and super oxide anion radical species.
