Abstract
In situ TiB whiskers and BN network were fabricated on SiO2-BN surface to reinforce the joining with Ti6Al4V via etching treatment. It depended on consuming SiO2 substrate to increase the BN content of ceramics surface. The results showed that TiB whiskers were in situ synthesized on the ceramics surface by improving the reaction between BN and Ti element. Moreover, brazing alloy infiltrated into BN network forming composite layer and pinning. Both TiB whiskers and BN network could relieve the residual stress and enlarge the joining interface. Maximum shear strength of the treated joints could be increased to 29.7 MPa.
