Abstract

AbstractIn‐situ extraction for the removal of organic contaminants from impounded industrial sludges has been carried out at pilot‐scale at a Superfund site. Laboratory studies were carried out on split‐spoon core samples obtained at the end of the operational year and on untreated sludges. Pilot plant results and sludge characteristics before and after treatment are presented, focusing on the effectiveness of the forced extraction process.
