Abstract
Measurements of emission or absorption spectra and of laser-induced emission from plasmas provide information on concentrations or fluxes of the various species and their energies or temperatures. Theoretical foundations and methods developed for the analysis of such data are reviewed, as are proposed methods for the spectroscopic determination of electric fields in plasmas.
