Abstract

Coffee production has been limited by the coffee leaf rust (CLR) disease. Genetic markers linked to resistance have been utilized for molecular breeding programs. Some of these markers have been linked specifically to a hypothetical SH3 gene that confers resistance against CLR. Using PrimerBLAST, the binding sites of these SH3 markers have been localized to a region in chromosome 3 of the coffee genome. Protein-coding genes were obtained from the Ensembl Plants website and filtered using the Orange software according to the gene annotations of their predicted products. The candidate resistance and resistance-associated genes were then data- mined and physical maps were constructed to visualize their locations. The data generated by this study may help guide future investigations regarding SH3-conferred resistance.
