Abstract

We read with interest the report by Sanchez Fernandez et al. (2012) describing a lack of a common language among North-American pediatric epileptologists regarding encephalopathy with electrical status epilepticus during sleep or continuous spike-and-wave during sleep (ESES/CSWS) and related conditions. In this paper, the authors suggested the use of ‘‘ESES’’ when referring to the EEG pattern, and ‘‘CSWS’’ when referring to the epileptic encephalopathy. However this suggestion was not supported by an explanation or by survey results.
