Abstract

The samples of silicas with covalently-immobilized aminodiphosphonic acid (SiO 2 –АDPA) have been characterized by the XPS and solid state 31 P NMR spectroscopy. The samples were synthesized via Kabachnik-Fields reaction from aminopropyl silica gel, H 3 PO 3 and formaldehyde, and have different concentrations (0.33–1.67 mmol/m 2 ) of grafted groups and different yield (59–86%). It is demonstrated that chemical shift of the lines and number of resonance lines in the 31 P NMR spectra of SiO 2 –АDPA depends on both the concentration of bonded groups and the yield. This difference was interpreted as a result of heterogeneity in the local environment of SiO 2 –АDPA surface.
