Abstract
In addition to the excellent comments by Pologe,1 we suggest that polar plots can be a useful method for the evaluation of trending ability. Although it was developed to evaluate the accuracy of cardiac output monitors, it can be applied to assess the accuracy of a hemoglobin monitoring device. The polar plot contains information about the direction, magnitude, and agreement of the change.
