Abstract
This Easy Read document was made with PhotoSymbols What was it like to write an article? How did you work with Sue? How long did it take to write the article? Have you written any other articles? Will you be writing any more in the near future? What did you learn about writing articles? Respect and that people should be treated with respect no matter what the colour of their skin, disability or anything else. It is a form of bullying to change or shorten someone's name. We need to respect people's decisions about their names. Being called names and people not using your name given by your family is hurtful. The voices of people with learning disabilities are very important. Support is important for people with learning disabilities to have their voices heard. We start our IRN meetings by saying our names like Paul did when he met a group online (p. 14). Having to have meetings online during Covid. That has helped us to work but we miss meeting in person. Like Paul, we have people supporting us to do our work. That is important but it's important that supporters know how to support us. The supporter is there to help us achieve, not to take over. We think it is important to talk openly and respectfully about things like the way Paul and Sue did about their backgrounds and working together. Open access funding provided by IReL.
