Abstract
Researchers have discovered a significant link between a reduction in death from COVID-19 with prior use of the diabetes drug metformin. In a study published in Frontiers in Endocrinology in January 2021, Shalev and colleagues found a threefold decrease in death from COVID-19 among patients with type 2 diabetes who were taking metformin before their COVID-19 diagnosis.
