Abstract

The solution of the title problem is obtained by using the finite element method. Explicit expressions are derived for a generic element of the ring's circular central axis. The methodology yields numerical results which are in excellent agreement with values available in the open literature. Frequency coefficients are presented for circular ring configurations of non-uniform cross-section which have significant technological importance and which have not been considered previously in the literature, at least not when shear and rotatory inertia effects are taken into account.
