Abstract

The in-plane shear behavior of the brick masonry walls strengthened with basalt textile-reinforced concrete (BTRC) was mainly investigated. Diagonal shear tests with different strengthening methods and textile layers were performed. Research results show that the BTRC transforms brittle failure of the brick walls into ductile failure, the BTRC and brick wall work well together. Double-sided strengthening is more effective in reinforcing the shear capacity of the masonry walls. The strengthening effect improves with textile layers, especially for double-sided strengthening. Furthermore, the shear strength values calculated by current standard are lower than tests.
