Abstract

This memorial column pays tribute to Curt Stanton, past‐president of AWWA from 1978‐79. He passed away on August 15, 2011 at the age of 93. He was a long‐standing member of the association and served in many capacities over the years. He became general manager of the Orlando Utilities Commission in 1948. He served as chair of the Florida Section in 1960, as the Florida Section director on the AWWA Board of Directors between 1969 and 1972, and was a member of the AWWA Government Affairs Committee, forerunner of today's Water Utility Council. He represented AWWA on a visit to President Carter and the White House, was recognized by the Florida Section as “Man of the Year” in 1970, and AWWA honored him with its Distinguished Public Service Award in 1982.
