Abstract
ON THE 15TH of May, 2000, David Vervat died in his 86th year of life. He was one of the founding editors of the Journal of Pediatric Surgery, a founding overseas member and honorary member of the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons, honorary member of the Société Française de Chirurgie Infantile (the French Pediatric Surgical Association), of the Deutsche Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Kinderchirurgie (German Working Group for Pediatric Surgery) and of the Nederlandse Vereniging voor Kindergeneeskunde (Dutch Society for Paediatrics).
