Abstract
1. The Chinese Journal of International Law mourns the passing on 7 March 2021 of Ambassador Dr. XU Hong, an Honorary Editor of this Journal and Executive Vice-President of the Chinese Society of International Law, formerly Ambassador of China to the Netherlands and Permanent Representative of China to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, and Director-General of the Department of Treaty and Law in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China. 2. Ambassador Xu’s professional and scholarly achievements have been told elsewhere and will be told in the future, we are sure. Here in this academic forum, we do not repeat those efforts, but would like to express our gratitude to Ambassador Xu for his strong efforts to strengthen the interaction between his colleagues in the government and academia.
