Abstract

Marcel Vénéroni, a leading figure of the theoretical nuclear physics community, passed away on 12 April 2015 in Clamart, near Paris. His contribution to the developments of nuclear theory for the last 50 years—through his publications as well as through the work of the people who learned with him as Ph.D. students and who carried out later the task of performing numerical calculations based on his ideas—has changed greatly the goals and the methods traditionally found in the nuclear structure research.
