She was an exceptional member of the editorial board, opinionated, passionate, generous and endlessly curious, serving for thirty-five years. The second woman on the board, she advocated strongly for a more equal gender balance. Deeply learned, she read submissions in many areas, providing helpful reports with her characteristic directness and precision. She cared deeply for Renaissance literature, for her students, and for her many friends. We mourn her loss; her scholarship remains a resource for future generations of Spenserians.
