Abstract

Canadian Theatre Review interviews Adam Brazier, Artistic Director of the Charlottetown Festival, and Tracy Michailidis, founder of Musical Works in Concert, about the development of new musical theatre works in Canada. They share their insights on the workshopping process, and the development of new Canadian musicals. Brazier discusses his approach to restructuring programming at the Charlottetown Festival to support of new musical development, and his plans for the 2017 Charlottetown Festival Conference, which will feature presentations of several new works in development. Michailidis discusses the origins of Musical Works in Concert, and shares her thoughts on collaboration and workshopping.
